A 4 Week Project
Instructor: Gokul V Language: English
Course Starting Date: 20th July 2023
The aim of this project is to introduce the Thermodynamics and Dynamics of an Ideal IC Engine, their mathematical modeling, and their comparison with experimental data of real engines. We observe the key differences and expect to account for them by mathematically modeling a Real Engine based on reasonable assumptions
He is currently a research scholar in the Dept of Physics, BITS Pilani, working on an interdisciplinary project. He has a UG degree in Mechanical Engineering and worked in SAIPEM as a design engineer before graduating with a Master of Science in Physics. He has teaching and research experience in Mechanical engineering, Theoretical Physics, and Applied Mathematics.
Week 1
Defining the Problem statement, Review of Thermodynamics and Mechanics. Literature Survey.
Week 2
Modeling an Ideal IC engine and comparison with real systems. Role of Friction, Energy Losses.
Week 3
Basics of heat transfer, Modeling a real IC engine, Role of Oscillating Stress. Mathematical Modelling.
Week 4
Finding semi-analytical solutions, magnitude and numerical analysis. Free access to Research Writing Course.
